In the framework of the annual meetings the AIRE Centre and Civil Rights Defenders organized the Fifth Regional Rule of Law Forum for South East Europe, which took place in Skopje, Macedonia, on 16th and 17th March 2018.
Topics of this year were focused on the prohibition of torture, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment contained in Article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights, specifically in relation to vulnerable persons including children, those experiencing mental health issues, prisoners; as well as the use of evidence obtained via torture during criminal proceedings, etc.
The Constitutional Court of Albania was represented in this regional forum by the President of the Court, Mr. Bashkim Dedja and the Head of President’s Cabinet, Mr. Aleksandër Toma. Judges from the region, who sit in the European Court of Human Rights in respect of their countries, also attended this forum.
