Participation of the Constitutional Court of Albania in the celebration of 54th anniversary of the Constitutional Court of Turkey, 25 to 29 April 2016.

Upon invitation of the President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Turkey, Prof. Dr. Zühtü Arslan, the President of the Constitutional Court of Albania Bashkim Dedja, accompanied by Thomaida Xhoxhaj, specialist in the Department of Public and International Relations participated in celebrations of the 54th anniversary of the Constitutional Court of Turkey, in Ankara from 25 to 29 April 2016.

The solemn ceremony held on the occasion of the 54th anniversary of the establishment of Turkey’s Constitutional Court was honored by the presence of President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey İsmail Kahraman, the Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu, a number of ministers and other officials.

 

In the symposium organized by the Turkish Constitutional Court in the framework this anniversary, all the guest, eminent academics and experts discussed on actual important issues of constitutional justice. Opening speeches were delivered by the President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Turkey, Prof. Dr. Zühtü Arslan, by the vice President of European Court of Human Rights Işil Karakaş and by the President of Venice Commission Gianni Buquicchio.

The main topics: The individual application process, the execution of judgments concerning constitutional complaints and their effects, has been widely elaborated in its four working sessions of the symposium.

The symposium was followed by an exclusive meeting between Presidents of Constitutional Courts of Balkan in the framework of a project for the establishment of the Association of the Constitutional Courts of Balkan – a proposal coming from the Constitutional Court of Turkey. This meeting aimed at getting opinions of the participating constitutional courts on the organization of such association and the further necessary steps to be taken in order to finalize this proposal.

In honor of the guests participating in the celebration of its 54th anniversary, the Constitutional Court of Turkey organized a social program in Antalya (27 to 28 April 2016).

 

During his stay in Ankara, the President of the Constitutional Court of Albania Bashkim Dedja met with many of Presidents of Constitutional Courts that attended this anniversary. President Dedja was received in a special official meeting, in a very friendly and cordial atmosphere, by the newly elected President of the Turkish Court of Jurisdictional Disputes Nuri Necipoğlu.

The participation of Albania's Constitutional Court on the anniversary of the Turkish Constitutional Court demonstrates the continuation of the excellent relations of cooperation that already exist between the two courts.
