On 20 May 2014 the President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Albania Mr. Bashkim Dedja officially received in his office the President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Austria Dr. Gerhart Holzinger, who was accompanied by Vice Secretary General of this Court Mr. Stefan Leo Fran.
Dr. Holzinger was part of a high-level delegation headed by the President of the Republic of Austria Heinz Fischer in the framework of an official visit to Albania.
During the meeting the President Bashkim Dedja drew a detailed overview of the organization and functioning of the Constitutional Court of Albania and problematic in its activity, and asked the intensification of bilateral cooperation with the Constitutional Court of Austria, as one of the oldest Constitutional Courts in Europe with a consolidated legislation, which served as a reference to the Albanian experts in the process of improving the local legislation.
President of the Constitutional Court of Austria Dr. Gerhart Holzinger found that there are no great differences between the problems faced by the two courts, and there are also many similarities with respect to competences.
In this context, the two Presidents pledged to contribute to the further development of practical cooperation through the exchange of bilateral delegations of institutions they lead.
At this meeting were also present Mrs. Vitore Tusha, judge of the Constitutional Court of Albania and Mrs. Valbona Paja - Legal Advisor.
