Official meeting of the President of Constitutional Court of Albania with a delegation of the Venice Commission, November 2, 2015

The President of the Constitutional Court of Albania, Mr. Bashkim Dedja, received in an official meeting upon their request, a group of representatives of the Venice Commission, who are in Albania to discuss with the political and institutional actors on the judiciary reform.

This meeting focused on the constitutional amendments drafted by the Ad Hoc Parliamentary Committee “On reform of justice system”, mainly those affecting the Constitutional Court.
The rapporteurs sought views on these amendments, at the same time they presented valuable experiences from Constitutional jurisprudence of EU countries.

President Bashkim Dedja expressed the appreciation for the cooperation between the Constitutional Court of Albania and the Venice Commission in the field of constitutional law, and the gratitude for the valuable assistance and expertise provided by the Commission every time that it has been requested.

The meeting was held in the framework of several formal meetings that the delegation of Venice Commission is carrying out these days with high representatives of the state, politics and judicial institutions, in order to prepare an opinion on the judicial system reform in Albania.
