Opening of the new judicial year of the European Court of Human Rights, Strasbourg, France, 26 January 2018

The opening of the new judicial year 2018 of the European Court of Human Rights took place on 26 January 2018. At the invitation of Mr. Guido Raimondi, President of the European Court of Human Rights, a delegation of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Albania, composed of Mr. Bashkim Dedja, President of the Court, Mr. Aleksandër Toma, Head of the President’s Cabinet, and Mrs. Alma Çomo, Head of Public and International Relations Department, attended the events organized to mark the occasion: the judicial seminar and the Solemn Opening Ceremony.
The judicial seminar, whose topic was “The authority of the judiciary”, brought together Presidents of the Supreme and Constitutional Courts of the Council of Europe Member States, as well as many distinguished personalities in the field of judiciary.
The seminar was followed by the Solemn Opening Ceremony of the new Judicial Year 2018 of the European Court of Human Rights. The special occasion of this year's Solemn Session was the presence of the President of the European Court of Justice, Koen Lenaerts, who addressed the audience by holding a speech on "ECHR and ECJ: Creating synergies in the field of fundamental rights protection".
