Seminar on "Protection of Human Rights in Europe," organized in cooperation with the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation (IRZ).
The Constitutional Court of Albania and the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation (IRZ) organized in November 14-16, 2012 a joint seminar on the topic "Protection of Human Rights in Europe", with the participation of legal advisers and administrative staff of the Constitutional Court. Lecturer of the seminar was Prof. Dr. Jan Bergmann, presiding judge at the Administrative Court of Stuttgart, Germany.
The seminar was organized in some sessions, during which the participants discussed about specific topics such as the historical development of human rights, the structure of the European Convention on Human Rights and the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, the interpretation of human rights protection, the human rights protection in the European Union, the problems of implementation of the Charter of Human Rights etc.
During the presentation, the lecturer brought examples of decisions of the European Court of Human Rights, as well as practical treatment of specific issues, based on his experience as a judge at an administrative court.
Participants at the event discussed and gave opinions on the topics and case studies dealt by the lecturer, and stressed the necessity of organizing such meetings in the future, in terms of knowledge and exchange of experiences and best practices.
