Visit of a delegation of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Turkey at the Constitutional Court of Albania, 9-12 June 2013

Upon the invitation of the President of the Constitutional Court of Albania, Mr. Bashkim Dedja, a delegation from the Constitutional Court of Turkey, composed of Mr. Alparslan Altan, Vice-President, Mr. Hicabi Dursun, Mr. Celal Mümtaz Akinci, judges, and Mr. Ayhan Kiliç, Legal Adviser, paid a study visit in Albania.

In the framework of this visit, on June 10th, the delegation of the Constitutional Court of Turkey was received in an official meeting at the premises of the Constitutional Court of Albania by the President, Mr. Bashkim Dedja. The participants expressed the institutional will and commitment to give their contribution to the further consolidation of bilateral cooperation between both constitutional courts. This commitment was concretized by signing at the end of the meeting a Memorandum of Understanding between the two constitutional courts, with a view to institutionalizing the reciprocal relations of cooperation. Later on, the Turkish delegation held a meeting with all the judges of the Constitutional Court of Albania.

Also, at Hotel Boutique Koton, was organized a round table on “Constitutional review of normative acts by the Constitutional Court,” with the presence of constitutional judges of both courts, legal advisers and administrative staff. During the meeting, Mr. Sokol Berberi, judge at the Constitutional Court of Albania, and Mr. Celal Mümtaz Akinci, judge at the Constitutional Court of Turkey, referred two key presentations that were followed by the exchange of respective knowledge and experiences.

The Turkish delegation was received in official meetings by the President of the Republic of Albania, Mr. Bujar Nishani, and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Albania, Mr. Xhezair Zaganjori.

In honor of the delegation of the Constitutional Court of Turkey, the President of the Constitutional Court of Albania, Mr. Bashkim Dedja, hosted an official dinner that was attended even by the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Albania, H. E. Mr. Hasan Sevilir Aşan.
